George Rider to Reuben Albaugh

 

This Indenture made the first day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight between George Rider and Catharine his wife of the County of Jefferson and State of Ohio of the one part, and Reuben Albaugh of Jefferson County and Sate of Ohio of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said George Rider and Catharine his wife for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said Reuben Albaugh his heirs or assigns, all the following described Tract of Land with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the County of Jefferson and State of Ohio, in Section numbered twenty five  of Township eight in Range two, Beginning on the South line of the State Road leading from Big Yellow Creek through the Town of Somerset, Bowling Green and Richmond at a point where Laura Ridenours North line crosses and running with Laura Ridenours line east eight perches and four tenths to a post, thence leaving Ridenours land and running north five degrees and forty five minutes west nine perches and two tenths to a post thence west eight perches and five tenths to a post in the south line of said road, and thence running with said road line south five degrees and forty five minutes east nine perches  and two tenths to the Beginning, containing seventy eight perches and two tenths be the same more or less.  To have and to hold the above described tract of land and premises, with the appurtenances to the said Reuben Albaugh his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use and behoof of him the Reuben Albaugh his heirs and assigns forever.  And the said George Rider  and Catharine his wife for themselves their heirs, executors and Administrators do and hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Reuben Albaugh his heirs and assigns, that they the said George Rider and Catharine his wife, the above described tract of Land and premises to the said Reuben Albaugh his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant and forever defend against all Lawful claims whatsoever.
                In Testimony whereof, the aforesaid George Rider and Catharine his wife have hereunto  set their hands and seals, the day and year first above written.

Sealed and delivered in presence of  George Holt,  Wm  Loury

In State of Ohio, Jefferson County SS.
(SEAL)    On the first day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty eight  before the subscribed, a Justice of the Peace within and for said County, personally appeared the said George Rider and Catharine his wife who signed and sealed the foregoing Deed, and acknowledged the signing and sealing thereof, to be their act and deed for the purposes therein expressed and the said Catharine wife of the said George Rider being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said Deed being made known to her by reading the same in her presence, she did declare upon such separate examination that she did voluntarily sign, seal and acknowledge the same, and that she is still satisfied therewith.
