Leonard Mowan to George Allbaugh
Know all men by the presents, that we Leonard Mowan and Catharine
Mowan his wife of the the said Leonard Mowan late widow of George Allbaugh late
of Jefferson County Ohio deceased for and in consideration of the sum of one
hundred and five dollars to us in hand paid by George Allbaugh son of the said
George Allbaugh deceased of the county and State aforesaid, the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged have remised, released and forever quit claimed and by
these presents do remise, release and forever quit claim unto the said George
Allbaugh all and all manner of dower and title of dower whatsoever which I the
said Catharine Mowan now have or may might should or of right out to have or
claim of in or out of all and every the “messuages” lands, tenements and
hereditaments which were belonging to the said George Allbaugh my former husband
at anytime during the coverture between him and me the said Catherine Mowan
situate and being in the county and State aforesaid, It being the South west
quarter of Section Seven in Township Twelve in Range Four of the lands directed
to be sold at Steubenville, and also all manner of actions or write of dower
whatsoever so as neither we the said Leonard Mowan and Catherine Mowan nor any
other person for us or in our name any manner of dower or writ of action of
dower, or any right or title of dower of or in the said “messuage’s” lands
hereditaments or of or in any part or parcel thereof at any time hereafter shall
or may have claim or prosecute against the said George Allbaugh his heirs and
assigns forever. In witness whereof we have set our hands and seal this 28th
day of May A.D. 1835.

Personally came before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said
county the above named Leonard Mowan and Catherine his wife and acknowledged the
signing and sealing of the above instrument of writing to be their act and deed
for the purpose therein expressed. And that the said Catherine wife of the said
Leonard Mowan being by me examined separate & apart from her said husband & the
contents of said deed being fully made known to her by reading the same in her
presence, she did declare upon such separate examination that she did voluntary
sign, seal & acknowledge the same & that she is still satisfied therewith.
Given under my hand and seal this 28th day of May A.D. 1835.
