DEED
Thomas McDevitt & wife to Allbaugh & Laughridge
Know all men by these presents that we
Thomas McDevitt and Sarah Ann McDevitt of the County of Harrison and State of
Ohio In consideration of the sum of Thirty two hundred Dollars to us paid by
Basil Albaugh and Samuel Laughridge of the County and State aforesaid the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant bargain and convey to
the said Basil Albaugh and Samuel Laughridge their heirs and assigns forever the
following Real Estate situated in the County of Harrison in the State of Ohio
and in the Steubenville Land District and bounded and described as follows to
wit: The same being the west half of the North west quarter of Section No 11,
Township Twelve (12) of Range 6 and containing Seventy nine acres and seventy
one hundredths of an acre.
To have and to hold said premises with all the privilege and
appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Basil Albaugh and Samuel
Laughridge their heirs and assigns forever. And the said Thomas McDevitt and
Sarah Ann McDevitt his wife for themselves and their heirs do hereby covenant
with the said Basil Albaugh and Samuel Laughridge their heirs and assigns that
they are lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid, that the said premises are
free and clear of all incumbrances whatsoever and that they will forever warrant
and defend the same with the appurtenances unto the said Basil Albaugh and
Samuel Laughridge their heirs and assigns against the claims of all persons
whomsoever.
In witness whereof the said Thomas McDevitt and Sarah Ann
McDevitt his wife who hereby released all the right of Dower in the premise has
hereunto set their hands and seals this 1st day of November in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy one~

Be it remembered that on this 1st day of November A.D. 1871 Before me
the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace in and for said County personally came
the above named Thomas McDevitt and Sarah Ann McDevitt with the grantors in the
foregoing Deed and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the same to be their
voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the
said Sarah Ann McDevitt wife of the said Thomas McDevitt being at the same time
examined by me separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said
Instrument being by me made known and explained to her, she then declared that
she did voluntarily sign, seal and acknowledge the same, said that she is still
satisfied therewith as her voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes
herein mentioned.
In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the
day and year last aforesaid.

I hereby certify that the Deed of which the foregoing is a copy had adhesive
stamps attached to the value of
Three Dollars & fifty cents which were duly cancelled according to law. I
further certify that said Deed was entered for Record Feb 15th 1872
and Recorded March 4 1872.
