Jacob Maple to Ruben Albaugh

 

This Indenture made this fifteenth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty four and between Jacob Maple and Maranda his wife of the County of Jefferson in the State of Ohio of the one part and Reuben Albaugh of the county and State aforesaid of the other part.  Witnesseth, that the said Jacob Maple and Maranda his wife for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and ten dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have given, granted, bargained, sold, released and conveyed and do by these presents give, grant, bargain, sell, release, convey and confirm unto the said Reuben Albaugh and his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of Jefferson in the State of Ohio and bounded as follows, to wit, being part of the North East quarter of Section Thirty two, in Township Eight and Range Two commencing for said tract of land at the North West corner of said quarter section and running thence South with the South boundary line forty nine perches to a post, thence East forty nine perches to a post, thence North forty nine perches to a post in the North boundary line thence West forty nine perches to the place of beginning containing Fifteen acres be the same more or less.  To have and to hold the premises aforesaid with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Reuben Albaugh  and unto his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jacob Maple and Maranda his wife for themselves and their heirs, Executors and Administrators, covenant to and with the said Reuben Albaugh his heirs and assigns that they the said Jacob Maple and Maranda his wife are lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid that they have good right and lawful authority to sell and convey the same in manner aforesaid and that the premises are free and clear of and from all incumbrances whatsoever ~ and further that they the said Jacob Maple and Maranda his wife will well and truly warrant and forever defend the premises herein and hereby granted unto the said Reuben Albaugh and to his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person whomsoever.  In Testimony whereof the said Jacob Maple and Maranda his wife party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written..

(SEAL)   On the tenth day of January A.D. 1844 before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace within and for said county personally appeared Jacob Maple and Maranada his who signed and sealed the foregoing deed and acknowledged the same to be there act for the purpose therein expressed.  And that the said Maranda being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband, acknowledged the signing and sealing of the above to be her voluntary act, that she signed the same of her own free will without any concern or compulsion from her said husband.  Given under my hand and seal this 15th day of Feb 1844.
