Exam’d Granted } At the request of Melchor
Beals the following deed was
1st May 1787 } recored 20th August
1785, to wit//
This Indenture made this 22d day of March in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five Between John Alspough of
Baltimore Town, Yeoman of the one part and Melchor Bele of York County in the
State of Pennsylvania, Farmer of the other part Witnesseth that the said John
Alspough for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred and five pounds
Current money to him in Hand paid by the said Melchor Bele at or before the
Ensealing and delivery of these Presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby
acknowledge, and himself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid, and from
every part and parcel thereof doth exonerate acquit and discharge the said
Melchior Bele his Heirs and Assigns forever hath given granted bargained sold
aliened ******* and confirmed; and by these presents doth give grant bargain
sell alien ensuffer and confirm unto him the said Melchior Beale his Heirs and
Assigns forever. All that Lot piece or parcel of Ground situate lying and
being in the Town of New London in Frederick County and State of Maryland being
part of a Tract called Timber Ridge resurveyed and situate on thee Northwest
side of the Main Street of the said Town called New London and distinguished on
a plat thereof by the Number Five Containing one quarter of an Acre of Land be
the same more or less Together with all and singular the Improvements and
Advantages to the said Lott of Ground and premises belonging or any way
appertaining To have and to hold the said Lott of Ground and premises with the
appurtenances unto him the said Melchior Bele his Heirs and Assigns forever to
the only proper use and Behoof of him the said Melchior Bele his Heirs and
Assigns forever. And the said John Alspough doth hereby promise covenant grant
and agree to and with the said Melchor Bele his Heirs and Assigns shall and may
have hold occupy and enjoy the aforesaid Lott of Ground and premises warranted
and defended as well against the said John Alspough his Heirs and Assigns as
against any other person lawfully claiming or to claim from by or under him them
or any of them. And the said John Alspough doth further covenant promise grant
and agree to and with the said Melchor Bele his Heirs and Assigns that at any
time hereafter at the request, but Cost of him, the said Melchor Bele his Heirs
or Assigns to sign seal deliver and execute, or cause to be signed seal’d
delivered and executed any other Deed or Instrument in Writing, or do any other
lawful Act as this said Melchor Bele his Heirs and Assigns his or their Council
learn’d in the Law shall reasonably advise or devise for the further and better
Assurances Surety and safe making the Lott of Ground and premises hereby
bargained and sold unto him the said Melechior Bele his Heirs and Assigns
forever. In Witness whereof the John Alspough hath hereunto set his Hand and
Seal the day and year first above written.

Received the day and Year first above written of and from Melchior Bele the sum
of one hundred and five pounds the Consideration within mentioned, to be by him
paid to me

County of Baltimore to wit// On the day 1st
of July 1785 Came John Alspough Party to the within deed before us the
Subscriber two Justice of the Peace for said County who acknowledged the same to
be his Act and deed according to the true intent and Meaning thereof, and the
Land and Premises within mentioned to be the right and Estate of Melchior Bele
his Heirs and Assigns forever. At the same time came Barbary, wife of the said
John Alspaugh and being by us examined separate and apart from her aid husband
did relinquish her Right of Dower in and to the within mentioned piece of
Ground; at the same time declaring she did the same of her own free and
voluntary will without Fear of her Husbands displeasure.

Baltimore County to wit//
I hereby Certify that Andrew Buchanan and George Gouldsmith
Prebury Gentlemen before whom the above Acknowledgment were taken and who have
thereto subscribed their names were at this Time of the taking and signing
thereof two Justices of the Peace of Baltimore County and to all Certificates by
them given as such, due Faith and Credit is and ought to be given as well in
Courts of Justice as thereat. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my Hand
and Seal of my Office this First day of July in the year of our Lord one
