George Guess to George Albaugh

 

This Indenture made this tenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine between John Guess and Hannah his wife of the County of Jefferson and State of Ohio of the one part, and George Albaugh of the aforesaid County and State of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Guess and Hannah his wife of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty dollars good and lawful money of the United States, to them in hand paid the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said George Albaugh his heirs or assigns, all the following described tract of land, with the appurtenances, situate lying and being in the County of Jefferson and State of Ohio Being the one eighth part of the South west quarter of Section number Seven of Township Number Twelve of Range Four of the lands directed to be sold at Steubenville.  To have and to hold the above described tract of land and premises with the appurtenances to the said George Albaugh of the second part his heirs and assigns, to the only proper use and behoof of the said George Albaugh his heirs and assigns forever.  And the said John Guess and Hannah his wife for themselves their heirs executors and Administrators Do and hereby covenant to and with the said George Albaugh  his heirs and assigns that they the said John Guess and Hannah his wife the above described tract of land and premises to the said George Albaugh his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend against all lawful claims whatsoever.  In Testimony whereof the aforesaid John Guess and Hannah his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

The State of Ohio, Jefferson County viz.
On the tenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine, personally appeared before me one of the Justices of the Peace in said County.  The above named John Guess and Hannah his wife and severally acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be their  voluntary act and deed for the purpose therein expressed and requested the same might be recorded as such.  She the said Hannah being by me personally examined separate and apart from her husband and declared that she signed and as her act and deed delivered the same without any coercion or compulsion; from her said husband, Given under my hand and seal, the day and year above written.
