James B. Crawford to John Allaback

 

This Indenture made the fourteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three Between James B. Crawford and Sarah his wife of the County of Jefferson and State of Ohio, of the one part and John Allaback of the same County and State of the other part, Witnesseth, That the same James B. Crawford and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars in hand paid to them by John Allaback the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presents do grant and convey unto the said John Allaback his heirs and assigns forever all the following lot of land with the appurtenances situate in the North side of Main Street in the Town of Richmond county of Jefferson and State of Ohio, marked in the plot of said Town and numbered Seven (7) containing in front on Main Street Sixty (60) feet and in length or depth one hundred and sixty (160) feet.  To have and to hold the above described premises with the appurtenances unto the said John Allaback and to the only use and behoof of him his heirs and assigns forever.  And the said James B. Crawford for himself and his heirs doth hereby covenant with the said John Allaback his heirs and assigns that he is lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid that they are free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever, and that he will warrant and defend the same with the appurtenances unto the said John Allaback his heirs and assigns forever, against all lawful claims whatsoever.  I testimony whereof the aforesaid James B. Crawford and Sarah Crawford his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Before me Thomas Burns Justice of the Peace in and for said County personally appeared the within named James B. Crawford and Sarah his wife and acknowledged the sealing of the within to be their act and deed.  And the said Sarah being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband, and the contents of said instrument made known to her she then declared that she did voluntarily sign, seal and acknowledge the same and that she is still satisfied therewith.  Given under my hand and seal this 14th day of February A.D. 1853.
