Jonathan Bety to Christian Albaugh

 

This Indenture made the fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one, between Jonathan Bety and Mary his wife of the County of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania of the one part and Christian Albaugh of Jefferson County and State of Ohio of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said Jonathan Bety and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred dollars lawful money to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said Christian Albaugh his heirs or assigns all the following described quarter Section of land with the appurtenances, Situate lying and being in the County of Jefferson and State of Ohio.  It being the Northwest quarter Section number twenty five of Range three in Township number ten containing in all one hundred and sixty acres be the same more or less.   To have and to hold the above described quarter Section of land and premises, with the appurtenances to the said Christian Albaugh his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Christian Albaugh his assigns, forever.  And the said Jonathan Bety for himself and his heirs, executors and administrators, Do, and hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Christian Albaugh his heirs and assigns that he the said Jonathan Bety will warrant and forever defend the above described tract of land and premises to the said Christian Albaugh his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend against all lawful claims whatsoever.  In Testimony whereof the aforesaid Jonathan Bety and Mary his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

State of Pennsylvania, Beaver County ss
(L.S.)  On the fourteenth day of M1arch 111in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one, personally appeared before me, one of the Justices of the Peace in said County, the above named Jonathan Bety and Mary his wife and severally acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be their voluntary Act and Deed for the purposes therein expressed and requested the same might be recorded as such.  She the said Mary being by me personally examined separate and apart from her said husband, and declared and delivered the same, without any coercion or compulsion from her said husband, and declared that she signed, and as her act and deed delivered the same, without any coercion or compulsion from her said.  Given under my hand and seal, the day and year above written.
