Basil Albaugh to James Ramsey
Know all men by these presents that we
Basil Albaugh and Nancy Albaugh wife of said Basil Albaugh of the County of
Harrison, State of Ohio in consideration of the sum of Five hundred Dollars to
us paid by James Ramsey of the County of Harrison, State of Ohio, have bargained
and sold, and do hereby grant and convey unto the said James Ramsey his heirs
and assigns forever, the following premises, situate in the County of Harrison
in the State of Ohio, and in the Steubenville Land District, and bounded and
described as follows: A part of Section 4 & 5, Township 12, and Range Six (6)
of said Land District, beginning for the same at the North west corner of the
North East quarter of said Section 4 and running thence North 1º East 8 perches,
thence South 88¼º East 82.12 perches, thence South 1º East 38.24 perches, thence
South 73º West 65.20 perches thence South 58¼º West 26.44 perches, thence North
1º East 65 perches to the place of beginning containing 27 acres, 2 roods and 17
perches.
To have and to hold said premises, with the appurtenances, unto the said
James Ramsey his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Basil Albaugh for
himself and his heirs doth hereby covenant with said James Ramsey his heirs and
assigns, that he is lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid, that said
premises are free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever, and that he will
forever warrant and defend the same, with the appurtenances, unto the said James
Ramsey his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all person whomsoever.
In Testimony whereof, the said Basil Albaugh and Nancy Albaugh his wife
have hereunto set their hands and seals this twenty third day of August in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty two.

Before me F. Grace Justice of the Peace, in and for said County,
personally appeared the above named Basil Albaugh and Nancy Albaugh wife of the
said Basil Albaugh, and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the foregoing
conveyance to be their voluntary act and deed. And the said Nancy Albaugh,
being at the same time examined by me, separate and apart from her husband and
the contents of said instrument made known to her by me, she then declared that
she did voluntarily sign, seal, and acknowledge the same, and that she is still
satisfied therewith, this twenty second day of August A.D. 1862. As witness my
