John Allensworth to Adam Albaugh

Know all men by these presents that we John
Allensworth and Mary Allensworth, wife of said John Allensworth of the County of
Jefferson and State of Ohio in consideration of the sum of forty dollars in hand
paid by Adam Albaugh of the same place have bargained and sold and do hereby
grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Adam Albaugh his heirs and assigns
forever, the following premises situated in the county of Jefferson, in the
State of Ohio and in the Steubenville Land District, and bounded and described
as follows, Beginning at a stake 7 ½ perches S. 6º W. from Philip Carters
corner, in the North boundary line of section 23 Township Eleven and Range 4 of
said Land district, thence South six degrees West eleven and five tenths
perches, thence west fourteen perches, thence north six degrees east eleven and
five tenths perches thence east fourteen perches, thence north six degrees East
eleven and five tenths perches thence east fourteen perches to the place of
beginning containing One acre and one perch of land more or less. To have and
to hold said premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said
Adam Albaugh his heirs and assigns forever. And the said John Allensworth for
himself and heirs doth hereby covenant with said Adam Albaugh and his heirs and
assigns, that he is lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid, that the premises
are free and clear from all imcumbrances whatsoever, and that he will forever
warrant and defend the same, with the appurtenances unto the said Adam Albaugh
his heirs and assigns against the lawful claim of all persons whomsoever. In
testimony whereof the said John Allensworth and Mary Allensworth have hereunto
set there hands and seals this Ninth day of June A.D. 1852 in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two On the ninth day of June A.D. 1852 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace within and for said County, personally appeared John Allensworth and Mary Allensworth who signed and sealed the foregoing deed and acknowledged the signing and sealing thereof to be their act and deed for the purpose therein expressed and the said Mary Allensworth, wife of the said John Allensworth being by me examined separately and apart from her husband and the contents of the said deed being fully made known to her by reading the same in her presence did declare upon said separate examination that she did voluntarily sign, seal and acknowledge the same, and that she is still satisfied therewith.
