Letters of Guardianship
Created May 2, 1860

       Be it remembered that on the second day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and sixty, personally appeared in open court, Adam Albaugh a minor age fourteen years on the nineteenth day of April A.D. 1860, and estate under the Will of John Slates deceased, and made choice of Solomon Slates as Guardian of his estate, which choice was approved by the Court and the said Solomon Slates having filed in this Court five written Statements under oath as to the value of said Estate the Court ordered that he first give bond conditioned according to law in the sum of Eight hundred dollars with William Slates and Conrad Slates as his Sureties Who are accepted as such by the Court ~ Whereupon said Guardian gave bond accordingly in the words and figures following to wit:
      Know all men by these presents that one, Solomon Albaugh, Conrad Slates and William Slates are jointly and severally bonded to pay unto the State of Ohio, the full sum of Eight hundred dollars.  Signed and sealed by me at Carrollton, this second day of May A.D. 1860.  The condition of the above obligation is such, that if the said Solomon Albaugh shall faithfully discharge all the duties ****** on him by law as Guardian of Adam Albaugh a minor and begets under the will of John Slates, deceased late of Carroll County, Ohio, and who is under the age of twenty one years; and shall undertak,  when required, a just and true Assesment of his doings; as Guardian to said Ward and of profits arriving to said Ward, from any funds which are or may be in his hands:  Shall pay the same over when legally  required then but in no other wise, will the above obligation be void~
